What makes Worthing and West Sussex Special?

I grew up in Worthing and returned in 2017 to live here with my wife and three children. I therefore know Worthing and the surrounding area extremely well and am very much integrated into the local community.

Since qualifying as a solicitor over 11 years ago, I have worked on a range of different property transactions right across Sussex, from rural estates to freehold flats. In particular, I have an excellent knowledge of properties in Brighton, Hove, Hastings and the surrounding area, owing to my having been based at these locations previously in my career.

Worthing is a fantastic place to live because of our enviable position on the South Coast, with direct access to the Countryside and South Downs. Where I live you are a 10 minute cycle ride from a quiet unspoilt beach with a beautiful Victorian Pier. However, if you cycle 10 minutes in the other direction you will be rewarded with a vista of rolling hills and fields.  What makes Worthing special is that it offers both of these things and, perhaps more than any other nearby location, combines them with the benefit of living in a large developed town with good employment opportunities and a bustling high street. It therefore affords a perfect compromise for those torn between town and country living.

What Do You Love about being a Conveyancer?

I qualified as a solicitor in 2008. Since then I have worked on a huge range of different property transactions and have gained a great deal of experience.

My favourite part of being a solicitor is to be able to assist people during transitional periods in their lives. I like to build a strong rapport with my clients and am proud to have developed a loyal client base.

I pride myself on being tenacious, thorough, communicative and in offering sound advice to my clients that is sensitive to their individual objectives.

Conveyancing gives you that rare opportunity to make a real difference to someone’s life and it is always nice when you receive a testimonial or a review on Google.

What Makes Your Service Special?

The secret that I have found to developing and retaining excellent relationships with estate agents is to be a good communicator, be available and be pro-active.

I like to treat the estate agents who recommend me as being part of the team. This is because I appreciate that there are things that estate agents can do for me to progress a file to completion that I cannot do and vice versa. For example, I have found it enormously helpful to call upon estate agents in the past to unlock a deadlock in communications by mediating between the seller and buyer directly where they have reached an impasse on a particular point.

Moreover, in England and Wales we have a situation where transactions are quite prone to fall through once negotiated. The reason for this is because there can be a long time between an offer being agreed and a completion date being set. During this period of time, the only thing holding the transaction together is the trust that the respective parties put in each other. They have no contractual obligation to each other at all.

For this reason, communication during this period is absolutely vital and I always ensure that the estate agent is updated as though they were my actual client with a view to ensuring that they in turn are able to update the chain. This regular communication is the lifeblood of the trust that holds the entire transaction together. Being able to work with estate agents means that clients are rewarded with a successful transaction and are commensurately pleased with the work that I do for them.

What are Your Passions Other than being a Conveyancer?

Outside of work I love spending time with my wife and three young children, be it going on country bike rides, long walks with our Labrador or visiting a museum or to the zoo.

I am an enthusiastic oenophile and wine maker and have my own vines. I also enjoy cooking and immersing myself in other cultures and their various cuisines.

I am also an avid reader and particularly like to read philosophy and history. I also write poetry.

I also like to support my local economy by dining out in the many great local pubs and restaurants in East and West Sussex.
