Research has been unveiled showing that agents who market new homes don’t always seen to be informed about the requirements in the NHBC warranty system. This has caused the National Home Building Council to help the National Association of Estate Agents with a toolkit to supply agents with the correct info to sell new-builds.
NAEA statement says “When interviewing new build homeowners or new home seekers, 47% of people expected to hear about NHBC from estate agents. However over 25% of people question said they were informed from estate agents, so there is a big gap in knowledge and communication.”
The NAEA website has provided the NHBC toolkit on their website, which includes a sequence of short training videos, information for agents’ websites, printed documents for potential home owners and information about the NHBC warranty.
There is also information relating to how the NHBC independently inspect new homes at key stages throughout the build and explanation about Buildmark. The NHBC warranty system which typically applies for 10 years upon a property’s completion.
The increase in house building over the past year has led many estate agency’s to open or extended new-home divisions within their company.
